The human race contributed to the severity of this Tsunami for a number of reasons. One because Tsunami’s are only expected to occur in the Pacific ocean so that is where they placed the Tsunami warning signals but they didn’t think a Tsunami would occur in the Indian ocean so they didn’t place any warning signals here and that is why not many people knew a Tsunami was on its way.
People also weren’t sure a Tsunami was on its way because Indonesia is a poor country and they weren’t as educated about the warning signs of a Tsunami than others. Again most children and adults didn’t understand the dangers of Tsunami’s and for example they all went down to the shore for a closer look after the Tsunami but had no idea the danger was going to happen again.
The human race again contributed to the severity of the disaster because of the way the houses were built. The community of Indonesia could of built stronger buildings with more concrete instead of a majority timber because that is why so many people became homeless because they houses got wiped away.
Because of the flat land near the coast of the region of Banda Aceh the people had no idea that their houses and villages were below sea level so when the Tsunami hit it caused bigger devastation and became even more dangerous.
The Tsunami caused even more damage and devastation because it became widespread. It became widespread because of the long and wide streets which caused the water to lead to many more places and destroy even more buildings.
